About the San Jacinto Police Department

The city of San Jacinto contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for police services. The police department's primary objective is to provide safety and security for residents throughout the community by enforcing applicable local and state laws. The police department provides general law enforcement services to the city, as well as specialized teams that proactively address issues specific to the community. Officers receive continuous training and education to prepare them to meet the challenges they encounter. Their superior training not only improves criminal investigations, but leads to many outstanding crime prevention programs.

Over the past year, violent crime has continued to decrease within the city. The level of property crimes has remained relatively unchanged. However, in an attempt to address a potential property crime increase, the Police Department has purchased four automatic license plate readers (ALPRs); two through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG-ARRA) and two by way of the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). The ALPRs assist in the recovery of stolen vehicles and the apprehension of criminals.
